Zara was watching one of her mother's videos from the Partners course and decided to take some action. When Zara was younger, she had been trapped in a swing. For four years, her mother had negotiated - unsuccessfully - with the local Parks and Recreation department to get them to put in an accessible swing in the local park. With her mother's support, Zara found an ally in a local agency and, with their support, raised the issue with the local government. She helped choose a swing and within weeks it was installed. Zara can now hang around with her friends at the park. And, like the other kids, she sometimes has to wait her turn - because the swing is busy. |
